Ludo and Snake & Ladders are both very different games even though both involve rolling dice. Ludo is more lubricious but you know where you are going, you will eventually get there. In the game of snakes & ladders, it creates an illusion of accelerating progress, but this board game has more snakes than thus the result in the progress is therefore volatile, patchy and unpredictable. Ludo Game

Ludo game is also known as the board game that can be played by 2 or 4 players. Origins and earlier history of Ludo

Ludo game was originated in India somewhere around the 6th century. The proof of this game is Ajanta caves which are the earliest proof of this game to be played in India. In the ancient time, Pachisi which is same as Ludo was also played by the various Mughal emperors. If we talk about the history, the great Mughal emperor Jalaluddin Muhammad Akbar used to play live Pachisi. Other variations of this board game were introduced to England around the late nineteenth century. One of these versions which appeared around the year 1896 was successfully patented under the name Ludo.

Snake & Ladders Game

It is an ancient Indian board game which is also played between two or more players on a gameboard having numbered, gridded squares. In the snake and ladder game number of snakes and ladders are pictured on the board, each one is connecting two specific board squares. The main motive of this game is to position one’s game piece, from the start (bottom square) to the finish (top square), helped or hindered by ladders and respectively. Snake & Ladders game is a simple race contest based on sheer luck.

How to play:

  • In this board, each player puts their counter on the space that says ‘start here’.
  • After that, the player takes it in turns to roll the dice. And move your counter forward the number of spaces shown on the dice.
  • If the player counters lands at the bottom of a ladder, you can move up to the top of the ladder.
  • If counter lands on the head of a snake than slide down to the bottom of the snake.
  • The player who gets to the space that says ‘home’ is the winner.
